![]() (if there are any left, and I hope there are) It is like you got it built so you get it all good at 7,000, and at like 7,056 the bearings go flying out the back window. ![]() ![]() They were a baddass engine but had a real hard limit when it came to RPM. The question though, how long did that 396 last ? They were known to blow in pretty bad ways, I mean wreck the block and all that. It was quick as hell out of the hole but if you had like a 4.11 in it and knew how to really setup the rear suspension (so it ALMOST hops), you would have took me in a ¼ mile, but not really in a longer run. Except for that blowing up thing that is.ĮTA : You would have beat me in the short run, but not the longer haul. Hmm, actually compared to today's cars, the build quality of the Pinto/Bobcat was not too bad. Get a land yacht from zero to sixty in six seconds, we can talk, a crotch rocket or shitcan Pinto with a 390 doesn't really count. Mainly because of weight though, so us bigblock people only consider that to be so much. Now THERE'S one of the cars that might have beat my Toronado.
